This tutorial will guide you through using Dropmagic's page variants feature. You'll learn how to create, edit, and activate independent versions of your pages for safe A/B testing and design experimentation, ensuring your live store remains stable while you optimize.
Page variants in Dropmagic allow you to duplicate an existing page and create an independent version. This is ideal for A/B testing, experimenting with new sections, layouts, images, and copywriting without affecting your live page.
To create a variant, simply duplicate an existing page. This new variant will be a separate entity, allowing you to make extensive changes safely.
Once created, your variant page is completely independent. You can edit it freely without modifying the original page that is live on your store. This means you can:
Experiment with new sections and layouts.
Test different images and media.
Iterate on your copywriting and calls to action.
Remember, product data (like images, price, and variants) is synced from Shopify. If you need to edit these, click the Shopify logo next to the element to make changes directly in Shopify. Reload the Dropmagic page to see updates.
After you've updated and validated your variant, you can make it live on your store.
Make Active: Open the three-dot menu on your variant and select 'Make active'. This will replace the currently live version on your Shopify store with the selected variant.
Publish: After activating a variant, always click 'Publish' to ensure all your updates are pushed and synced correctly to your storefront.
Revert: If performance drops after testing a new variant, you can instantly revert to a previous version by reactivating the desired variant from the three-dot menu.
Delete: Variants can be deleted at any time through the same three-dot menu.
This architecture allows for safe experimentation at the page level while preserving your store's overall look and feel. It enables you to iterate on conversion improvements without disrupting live traffic, leading to faster optimization cycles.
By following these steps, you can effectively use Dropmagic's page variants to conduct A/B tests, experiment with new designs, and optimize your store's performance safely and efficiently.
